Make your bed.
If your mom told you to make your bed every day as a child, guess what? Mom was right again. This childhood chore might seem unnecessary in adulthood, but it can be surprisingly beneficial for your mood. Naval Admiral William McRaven, the commander of U.S. Special Operations, said it best: “If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter.”
Drink water when you wake up.
After a full night of sleep, your body is dehydrated. Nourish it first thing with a 16-ounce glass of water to fire up your metabolism, get hydrated, flush the toxins out of your body, and fuel your brain.
Practice meditation and focus your mind.
If your mind runs a million miles a minute, try adding meditation to your morning routine. Get moving with early-morning exercise.
